What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup technique that is used to enhance the appearance of eyebrows. The process involves using a small handheld tool, often called a microblade or a nanoblade, to create tiny incisions in the skin that resemble hair-like strokes.

The nano hair technique is a type of microblading that involves using an even smaller blade, typically with needles that are only a few microns in diameter.

This technique allows for even finer and more precise strokes, resulting in a more natural and realistic-looking brow.

What to Expect At Your First Microblading Session:

During your first microblading session, you can expect a thorough consultation with your microblading artist to discuss your desired brow shape, color, and style. She will then map out your eyebrows to ensure symmetry and enhance your facial features.

A numbing cream will be applied to minimize any discomfort during the microblading process. Using a special hand tool with tiny needles, your artist will make precise strokes to mimic the look of natural brow hairs and apply pigment to fill in any gaps or sparse areas.

The procedure can take 2 hours and you may experience mild discomfort or redness in the treatment area. Your artist will provide you with aftercare instructions to follow for proper healing and long-lasting results.

The pigment used in microblading is semi-permanent and will gradually fade over time. Most clients will need a touch-up appointment every 12-18 months to maintain their desired look

Before Your Appointment:

If you are planning to undergo eyebrow nanoblading, it’s important to prepare yourself properly beforehand to ensure the best possible results.

Here are some general guidelines to follow before coming for your appointment:

Avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours before the procedure, as these substances can increase sensitivity and may affect the healing process.

Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2-3 weeks before the procedure, as this can cause the pigment to fade prematurely and may increase the risk of sunburn.

Avoid using retinoids or other harsh skincare products on the treated area for at least 2-3 weeks before the procedure, as these products can thin the skin and increase the risk of bleeding and bruising.

Stop using any blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for at least a week before the procedure, as these medications can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising.

If you have any medical conditions, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, be sure to inform your technician beforehand.

Make sure to get a good night’s sleep before your appointment and avoid strenuous physical activity on the day of the procedure, as this can increase swelling and may affect the healing process.

Make sure to eat a healthy meal before your appointment, as this can help to reduce discomfort and ensure that your body has the necessary nutrients to support the healing process.

By following these guidelines, you can help to ensure that your nanoblading procedure goes smoothly and you achieve the best possible results. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to talk to your aesthetician beforehand.

Post-Treatment Care:

To achieve the best results following your microblading appointment, it is important to stick to appropriate aftercare measures.

Below are some general instructions to keep in mind:

Avoid getting the treated area wet for at least 24-48 hours after the procedure. This means no swimming, sweating, or washing the area with water.

Avoid touching or picking at the treated area, as this can cause infection or scarring.

Apply the aftercare ointment provided by the technician several times a day to keep the area moisturized and promote healing.

Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for at least 7-10 days after the procedure, as this can interfere with the healing process.

Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2-3 weeks after the procedure, as this can cause the pigment to fade prematurely.

Avoid saunas, hot tubs, and steam rooms for at least 2-3 weeks after the procedure, as the heat can cause the pigment to fade and increase the risk of infection.

Avoid exercising or engaging in strenuous physical activity for at least 7-10 days after the procedure, as sweat can interfere with the healing process.

It’s important to follow these aftercare instructions carefully to ensure the best possible results.

If you experience any unusual or severe symptoms, such as excessive swelling or redness, or signs of infection, contact your technician or healthcare provider immediately.

Could there be any adverse reactions to microblading my eyebrows?

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are some potential side effects associated with eyebrow microblading. While most people experience minimal side effects, it's important to be aware of the possible risks and complications.

During the procedure:

During the procedure, it's normal to experience some discomfort and minor bleeding. The technician will apply a numbing cream to help minimize any discomfort, but some clients may still feel some level of pain or discomfort. Additionally, there is a small risk of infection or allergic reaction to the pigment or numbing cream used during the procedure.

After the session:

After the procedure, it's common to experience some redness, swelling, and tenderness around the treated area. The eyebrows may also appear darker and more intense than desired for the first few days. This is a normal part of the healing process and the color will gradually fade to a more natural-looking shade over the next few weeks. In rare cases, clients may experience more serious side effects such as scarring, keloids, or changes in skin texture. These complications are more common in individuals with sensitive skin or a history of allergic reactions.
